Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
